Story was one of the main reasons I love Metal Gear (as convoluted and insane as it is), and MGSV was a letdown in that area. Unlocking new equipment, just trying crazy strategies, roaming around the world, just kept me extremely engrossed. However, I just kinda got used to it, because even after the story, I just wanted to keep playing. It took the game several notches down in my book. I won't spoil it for those who haven't played it. I had played every Metal Gear up to this point (and watched all 9 hours of cutscenes for MGS4 since I didn't have a PS3) so I was super invested.Īnd I would say that when I was about 2/3 through Phantom Pain, I was confident that this was the greatest Metal Gear of them all.Įven for me, the ending was kind of a kick in the nuts. I played the hell out of GZ, earning S-rank in every mission. When I first got my Xbox One I had Titanfally and MGSV Ground Zeroes. My hype levels were off the chart for this game. Yes, simultaneously the best and worst is a good way to put it.
